Annoyed at being labelled as ordinary 2019
This little painting was for the 'Sculpture on the Peninsula' auction 8th November 2019. It is my first but I'm sure not last painting of the NZ long finned eel (Tuna).
The point of departure for this years' event was an old picture frame. I found this one broken at the local second hand shop, so I've repaired it and decided that it needed a painting of eels.
I have long been fascinated by these eels that can live for 80 years and swim halfway across the world to spawn and then die. They are magnificent animals and unfortunately rather misunderstood and due to over fishing and habitat destruction are now endangered. This painting is called 'Annoyed at being labelled as ordinary' 205mm x 510mm plus the frame. SOLD
